This was my second lumbar surgery with Dr. Liauw. Both were very successful, with no complications. His competence and professional demeanor, were a large factor in my lack of stress. I went in because of a tumor that needed to be removed from my thoracic spine. Dr. Liauw is a highly specialized qualified surgeon. His background and education is impressive within itself. Tremendous part of my healing and recovery

Has a wonderful way of explaining the process
I was referred to Dr. Liauw by Dr. Pham, my regular physician to get a second opinion on pain and right leg numbness. We met and I explained my situation. He listened and then explained what he could do. He requested a copy of my MRI and two days later my wife and I had a second visit with him. He made us both feel very comfortable about considering surgery. The surgery was performed and 8 weeks later, no pain! He is easy to talk with and has a wonderful way of explaining the process.

What an awesome guy!
Dr. Jason Liauw! The best surgeon that I have ever encountered out of 6. He operated on my lower lumbar, added spacers and put in 2 titanium rods that rendered my back feeling so much relief in a short period of time. After the surgery he came to see me everyday to make sure that I was comfortable. He has the nicest bedside manner of any neurosurgeon in the world. What an awesome guy. He took consideration to where I was going to rehab my spine after surgery. He cared a lot. That was unusual.

The recovery went very well, far exceeding my expectations
Dr. Liauw performed a hemilaminectomy on L2, L3, L4 & L5 on 3/28/2019. When I came out of recovery the pain that I had in my legs and hips before surgery was gone. Staff at Mission Laguna hospital had me up and walking the night of the procedure. I was discharged to home about 30 hours post-op. The recovery went very well, far exceeding my expectations. Walking around the house (stairs included) was no problem. Within 6 days of surgery, my steps exceeded 1 mile and within 9 days post-op I was walking over 2 miles (total steps). Fourteen days after surgery, I was released back to work!
